Marcus Rixon – Assistant Audio Engineer for the Figure Skating & Short Track Speed Skating – The Olympic Winter Games – Sochi 2014, Russia

Marcus had the honor of working with the Olympic Broadcasting Services, where he travelled to Sochi, Russia to work as an assistant audio engineer in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. He had the privilege of working alongside world-renowned audio engineer, Howard Baggley, at the figure skating and short track speed skating arenas. As an assistant audio engineer at the Olympics, Marcus helped run cables between the broadcast trailer and Iceberg Skating Palace arena, placed, set up and tore down microphones, and assisted in mixing the live audio feed to the various broadcasters.

Marcus Rixon – Runs Sound for Summer Tour with “Unspoken”

Marcus had the opportunity to tour with Unspoken as the front of house audio engineer during their 2013 Summer Tour. Marcus loved being on the road with Chad Mattson (lead vocals), Mike Gomez (lead guitar & BG vocals), Jon Lowry (bass, guitar, keys & BG vocals) and Ariel Munoz (drums).  Many memories were made and even better friendships were formed.

Christian band, Unspoken, released its first Centricity Music label EP, Get To Me, in June 2012. The project’s lead single, “Who You Are,” became a Top 4 radio hit. The following year in June 2013, they released their second EP, The World Is Waking, which produced the Top 5 Single “Lift My Life Up.” On April 1, 2014, Unspoken released their first full-length, self-titled album. The album reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s Current Contemporary Christian Album chart and the lead single, “Start a Fire,” reached the Top 20 on every Billboard Christian Singles radio chart; NCA, AC Monitor, AC Indicator, CHR and Soft AC.

Marcus Rixon – Interns at the World Famous “Blackbird Recording Studios” – Nashville, TN

In August 2013, Marcus packed his belongings and headed to Music City, otherwise known as Nashville, Tennessee. This was the beginning of his six-month internship with the #1 Recording Studio in Nashville, Blackbird Studios, owned and operated by John and Martina McBride. Marcus had the opportunity to work with artists from the incredible Blackbird Studios client list, with top-of-the-line technology and equipment, in state-of-the-art facilities and with world-class engineers and staff. Blackbird Studios is a world-renown studio and Marcus couldn’t be more grateful for his opportunity to not only work with the best, but to learn from the best.
