The Beams Are Creaking

For the past three weeks, Marcus has been able to work alongside the Asbury University Theater and Cinema Performance Program. Director, Jeff Day, hired Marcus as the Sound Designer for their Spring production, “The Beams Are Creaking,” a drama based on the life and ministry of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Marcus spent many hours researching and preparing realistic sound effects and sound bites for the production, as the play is set in the WWII-era. He spent hours recording and editing the “radio broadcasts” that would be aired during the production. This was the fourth production that Marcus has had the pleasure to work on at Asbury. His other productions include “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Rumors,” and “Crimes of the Heart.” Of “The Beams are Creaking,” he said, “I greatly enjoyed the process of learning about and recreating this era in history. I love how I was able to do this through my skills in audio.” To read more about the production, visit Asbury’s Theater and Cinema Performance website.
